Prysm v6.1.3 is now available. This is a maintenance release packed with important fixes for the beacon API and P2P layer, enhancing node stability, reliability, and network health.

Key Highlights

Major Fix for Attestation Handling: A critical bug has been fixed where attestations arriving before their corresponding blocks were incorrectly rejected as invalid. This was especially problematic during times of network congestion, potentially leading to incorrect peer penalties. The node will now correctly hold these attestations and process them once the block arrives, improving overall network stability.

More Robust Block Processing: Nodes will no longer aggressively mark late blocks as invalid due to the `ErrNotDescendantOfFinalized` error. This change improves fork-choice resilience by preventing valid-but-late blocks from being unnecessarily discarded.

Improved Block Proposal Reliability: To prevent missed block proposals, the node will no longer perform redundant data verification when calculating rewards for a self-produced block. Additionally, the node now gracefully handles 502 (Bad Gateway) errors from relays when submitting blind blocks, logging the issue instead of failing the operation.

Other Notable Fixes & Improvements

P2P & Attestation Performance: The validation deadline for attestation gossip has been reduced from 50ms to 5ms, significantly cutting down on processing latency at the network level.

Beacon API Enhancements: The API now provides clearer, more detailed error messages for individual failures, aligning with official spec updates. It also fixes an issue with the `/eth/v1/beacon/blob_sidecars/` endpoint when a far-future fork epoch is configured.

Web3Signer Update: Web3Signer has been updated to version 25.9.1, and an issue causing a regression in support for older forks has been resolved.

SSZ-QL Engine Upgrades: The internal SSZ Query Language engine has been improved to use `fastssz`-generated methods, enhancing performance for calculating object sizes and hash tree roots. This work also adds the ability to query specific elements in a list, such as `.validators[42]`.

Data Retention Fix: The retention period for data column sidecars now correctly uses its own retention setting (`MIN_EPOCHS_FOR_DATA_COLUMN_SIDECARS_REQUESTS`) instead of the blob sidecar setting, ensuring correct data pruning behavior in the future.
