Gloas (ePBS) Fork Development:

Performance and Memory Optimizations:
- Several Beacon API endpoints that handle validators (e.g., `/eth/v1/beacon/states/{state_id}/validators`) have been optimized to stream data instead of loading the entire validator set into memory. This drastically reduces memory usage, especially on mainnet with over 2.3 million validators.
- A major performance regression has been fixed by reducing memory allocations when iterating over the validator set, which had previously caused slowdowns and errors at epoch transitions.
- A memory leak associated with per-peer RPC rate limiters has been fixed by reclaiming memory when a peer disconnects, preventing unbounded memory growth from connection churn.
- Other improvements include faster builder lookups (O(1) complexity) and asynchronous updates to the committee cache to prevent blocking.
New Beacon API Features:
- New Event Topics: Support has been added for `execution_payload`, `execution_payload_gossip`, and `head_v2` SSE event topics. These new events are useful for external monitoring tools to measure execution payload and block processing times. The legacy `head` event is retained for backward compatibility.
- New Endpoints: The release introduces a `POST /eth/v1/validator/proposer_preferences` endpoint and a corresponding `proposer_preferences` SSE topic. Additionally, new endpoints for handling payload attestation data and pools have been added in preparation for Gloas.
Stability and Hardening:
- Fixed several concurrency issues, including data races around head state, a time-of-check-to-time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition in state generation, and a fatal error from concurrent map access in the data availability check.
- Gossip and API validation has been hardened. This includes stricter matching for gossip subnet topics, validation of BLS signatures on attestations submitted via the REST API, and bounds checking for proposer indices in gossiped blocks.
- hdiff State Storage: Full-state snapshots are now compressed using Snappy, reducing disk space. New metrics and logs have also been added to monitor the duration of state-saving operations.
Other Notable Changes:
- Client Identification Correction: The client identifier in block graffiti has been corrected from the old `PR` to the official `PM`. This aligns the graffiti with the identifier already used in Prysm's Engine and Beacon APIs.
- Backfill Logging: The backfill process now provides more informative logs, including a starting message and periodic progress updates.

- **hdiff state storage**: Snappy-compressed full-state snapshots and new save-state duration metrics and logs.
- **Dependencies**: Updated to Go 1.26.4 and go-libp2p v0.44.0.
- **Client identification**: The commit-hash block graffiti now uses Prysm's correct two-letter client code `PM` instead of the stale `PR`. Prysm already advertised `PM` everywhere else — the Engine API (`engine_getClientVersionV1`) and the Beacon API (`GET /eth/v2/node/version`) — so this only fixes the graffiti, bringing it in line with the rest of Prysm and the code registered in the [Ethereum client identification spec](https://github.com/ethereum/execution-apis/blob/main/src/engine/identification.md#clientcode) (e.g. `…GEabcdPMe4f6`). The change takes effect when the graffiti info is refreshed.
