Release Summary

This release is a mandatory upgrade for all Mainnet nodes as it schedules a network activation for November 19th, 2025.

All Mainnet nodes must upgrade before 11 AM ET (4 PM UTC) on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025.

Network Upgrade: ACP Activation

This release schedules the activation of the following Avalanche Community Proposals (ACPs):

ACP-181 (P-Chain Epoched Views): Implements epoched views of the P-Chain state. This change improves how Subnets verify P-Chain data, particularly for features like Warp Messaging, by providing verifiable and consistent snapshots of validator sets at specific heights.

ACP-204 (Precompile for secp256r1): Adds a precompile to the C-Chain for the `secp256r1` elliptic curve. This enables native, low-cost verification of cryptographic signatures used by common hardware and web standards like Apple's Secure Enclave, Android Keystore, and WebAuthn.

ACP-226 (Dynamic Minimum Block Times): Allows Avalanche EVMs (C-Chain and Subnet-EVMs) to dynamically adjust their minimum block times based on network demand, rather than being fixed. This can enable sub-second block times and more responsive transaction processing.

Key Changes for Developers and Node Operators

Breaking Change (Library Users): For developers using AvalancheGo as a library, manual registration of `libevm` callbacks is now required. This change is necessary to allow different EVM implementations (e.g., Coreth and Subnet-EVM) to be imported and used simultaneously without conflicts.

Subnet Config Change: The default `proposerMinBlockDelay` for Subnets (non-Primary Network L1s) has been changed to `0`. This supports ACP-226 by allowing Subnet-EVMs to control their own block production throttling without an additional delay from the ProposerVM.

New APIs:
- A new `platform.GetAllValidatorsAt` endpoint has been added to the PlatformVM API to retrieve the validator sets of all chains at a given P-Chain height.
- New `proposervm` APIs, `GetProposedHeight` and `GetCurrentEpoch`, are now available via gRPC, connectrpc, and jsonrpc.

Ledger Wallet Support Removed: Native support for Ledger hardware wallets within AvalancheGo's built-in wallet has been removed. Users should now use the standalone Golang SDK for Ledger or other compatible wallet software.

Other Improvements

Improved Bootstrapping ETA: The time-remaining estimates during node bootstrapping have been made significantly more accurate by using a rolling window of recent sync performance.

Network RTT Metrics: The node now measures and exposes the network round-trip time (RTT) to its peers via new Prometheus metrics (`avalanche_network_round_trip_sum` and `avalanche_network_round_trip_count`), providing better tooling for diagnosing network latency.

Go Version: AvalancheGo is now built using Go 1.24.

## LibEVM Hook Registration

This release includes changes for how EVM modifications are registered with libevm. For consumers of avalanchego as a library, manual registration of libevm callbacks is now required.

## APIs

- Added support for specifying multiple `Avalanche-Api-Route` headers for more complex routing.
- Added proposervm gRPC, connectrpc, and jsonrpc APIs for `GetProposedHeight` and `GetCurrentEpoch`.
  - The gRPC and connectrpc APIs are routed by adding a second `Avalanche-Api-Route` header with the value `proposervm`.
  - The jsonrpc APIs are added to all chains with the base endpoint `/proposervm`.
- Added platformvm `platform.GetAllValidatorsAt` API.

## Configs

- Changed default `proposerMinBlockDelay` for L1s (other than Primary Network) to 0.
